GovWin IQ is one of the most established market intelligence tools in government contracting, but it is not the only option, and for a small business it is often not the first one to try. Deltek does not publish GovWin IQ prices and sells it as subscription packages through a sales conversation. Several competitors publish their prices, offer free plans or trials, and include teaming tools. This guide compares six of them on price, fit, free access and teaming, using what each vendor says on its own website.
Quick answer: The main GovWin IQ alternatives for small contractors are HigherGov, GovTribe, Federal Compass, GovSpend, G2Xchange (G2X) and OryonIQ. HigherGov, GovTribe and G2X publish prices, G2X and OryonIQ have free plans, and HigherGov and GovTribe offer free trials. GovWin IQ pricing is quote-based, so get a quote before you compare costs directly.

Small businesses usually look beyond GovWin IQ for three reasons. The price is not published and is set through a sales process. Cost depends on the packages and users you buy. And the platform is built for deep, analyst-driven research that a one- or two-person BD team may not have time to use fully.
None of that makes GovWin IQ a weak product. It is strong at things most alternatives do not try to match in the same way. Deltek says GovWin IQ pairs more than 150 market analysts, who talk directly with government sources in the U.S. and Canada, with its Dela AI tools. It tracks opportunities from early budget signals, often well before a solicitation is posted, and Deltek says its analysts monitor and normalize 95% of publicly reported government spending. It covers federal, state, local and education (SLED) and Canadian markets, sold as separate packages.
For a larger capture team chasing big recompetes, that analyst layer can be worth a lot. For a small firm the questions are more basic:
If you are still working out where federal and state bids are posted in the first place, start with our guide on where to find government contracts, then come back to choosing a paid tool.
The six alternatives differ most on four points: whether the price is published, who the tool is built for, whether you can start free, and how it supports teaming. HigherGov and GovTribe publish annual prices, G2X publishes a free tier and a starter price, Federal Compass and GovSpend quote on request, and OryonIQ has a free plan.

Each alternative below is described from its own website, with what it is built for, what the published plans include, and where it fits for a small contractor. Use these sections to shortlist two or three tools, then run free trials or demos side by side on the same NAICS codes and agencies you actually pursue.
HigherGov is a market intelligence and capture platform with one of the lowest published entry prices in this group. Every plan lists the same core features: market intelligence, federal opportunities and forecasts, state and local opportunities, pursuit management tools, unlimited searches, alerts and pipelines, AI tools, a vendor people database, a labor pricing tool and an M&A and investor database. The plans differ mainly in users, export limits and support.
For teaming, HigherGov's Partner Finder sorts contractors and grant recipients by federal obligations so you can look for potential primes or subcontractors, and opportunity pages show likely competing bidders. A free trial is available from its site.
GovTribe covers federal, state and local opportunities, awards, forecasts, buyer and vendor profiles and capture tools. It publishes two priced plans and offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card required.
GovTribe AI and its MCP connection are usage-based and billed in credits on top of the subscription, so factor that in if you plan to use the AI features heavily. Its teaming feature lets you claim your vendor profile, mark your interest in teaming as a prime or subcontractor, and upload a capability statement.
Federal Compass positions itself as an end-to-end business development platform for federal contractors. Its site covers opportunity sourcing (including analyst forecasts, recompetes and task orders), pipeline management, a GovCon CRM, task order management, market intelligence, state and local opportunities and an AI assistant called Wayfinder.
Teaming is a clear focus. Federal Compass describes partner introductions based on your gaps in the market, partner management to track interactions and share task order notifications, and access to more than 2,000,000 industry contacts. Pricing is not published on its website, and the site directs you to contact sales. If you are comparing it with GovWin IQ, Federal Compass publishes its own side-by-side comparison, which is worth reading as a vendor's view rather than a neutral one.
GovSpend is best known for state, local and education purchasing data. Its platform covers bids and RFPs, spending and purchase orders, meeting intelligence, cooperative contracts and contacts, which is useful if you sell to cities, counties, school districts and state agencies. For federal work, GovSpend offers the Fedmine platform, which brings together 19 federal datasets and includes contract, task order and subcontract research.
GovSpend does not publish standard pricing. Its FAQ says it sells annual subscriptions, with multi-year options, and prices after learning about your industry, team size and public sector sales history. For teaming, Fedmine's contract and subcontract search can help you identify incumbents, primes worth approaching and potential partners. G2X describes itself as a GovCon go-to-market platform for finding and qualifying opportunities, marketing your firm, managing pipeline and drafting responses. It has the lowest-cost entry point in this group, with a free tier that does not expire.
G2X notes that its Lumen AI agents are in public preview and free on every plan during the preview, subject to fair use, so the AI terms may change.
OryonIQ is a GovCon platform built for small and mid-sized contractors, with a free plan that needs no credit card. Paid tier pricing is not published. It combines opportunity search with teaming partner matching and a contractor community.
Orbit matching works from your profile, so fill in your company, position, state and primary NAICS code. For more on how to use it, read how to find GovCon teaming partners with Orbit.

Choose by matching the tool to your main market, your budget and how much time you have for research. If you need analyst-validated forecasts and can justify a quoted contract, GovWin IQ is still a strong choice. If you need published prices, a free start or built-in teaming, shortlist two or three alternatives and test them.

Deltek does not publish GovWin IQ pricing. It sells federal, state and local, and Canada subscription packages, and pricing is quote-based through its sales team. Ask for a quote based on the packages and number of users you need before comparing it with alternatives.
It depends on your market and budget. HigherGov and GovTribe publish annual prices and offer free trials, G2X has a free Community Edition and a $25 per month Starter plan, GovSpend focuses on state and local purchasing data, and OryonIQ offers a free plan with teaming partner matching.
Yes. G2X offers a free Community Edition with no time limit, and OryonIQ has a free plan with no credit card required. HigherGov and GovTribe offer free trials rather than permanent free plans. SAM.gov itself is free for searching federal opportunities.
Deltek's GovWin IQ page offers a "Try GovWin IQ Risk Free" option that leads to a request form, but it does not publish trial terms. Ask Deltek's sales team what trial or demo access is available for your market.
HigherGov has a Partner Finder, GovTribe includes teaming tools on Growth Plus and Scale, Federal Compass offers partner introductions and partner management, G2X has a Teaming Hub, GovSpend's Fedmine supports subcontract research, and OryonIQ Orbit suggests partners and explains why each match fits.
